Building Healthy Families:

Building Healthy Families (BHF) is an independent, nonprofit family support organization, offering personalized universal family support and education programs for parents, caregivers, parents-to-be, students and children through diversified programming. At BHF, we focus on child development, age-appropriate behavior, parent-child interaction, positive discipline, and family health and safety. We promote family access to needed resources in the community and advocate for children and families.

Northeast Oregon Compassion Center:

Since 2000 the Compassion Center has been serving people in the Baker City community and surrounding areas who have a need – physical, emotional, relational or spiritual – regardless of their race, religion, or ability to pay.

Cribs for Kids:

The goal of this program is to educate and promote safe sleep practices to keep all babies safe.

Cribs are available free of charge from Northeast Oregon Compassion Center to anyone in need of a safe place for their baby to sleep.

The District Attorney's Office has partnered with the National Cribs for Kids program, St. Alphonsus Hospital, St Luke's Medical Center, Oregon Department of Human Services, Northeast Oregon Compassion Center, Building Healthy Families, The Rachael Pregnancy Center, The Baker County Health Department and local emergency services to promote this campaign.

Child Protective Services:

CPS responds to child abuse reports. CPS-trained caseworkers across the state listen to reports of abuse, assess the situations and prepare safety plans to assist children and families.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program:

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers food benefits to eligible, low-income individuals and families.

The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program:

Provides cash assistance to low-income families with children while they strive to become self-sufficient. Cash assistance is intended to meet a family's basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter and utilities. Most cash benefits in Oregon are issued via an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. This is also known as an Oregon Trail Card.

TANF Program

Employment Related Day Care (ERDC):

Low income working families may be eligible for financial help with child care costs. ERDC is a subsidy program. This means eligible families still pay part of the child care cost. This amount depends on the family’s income, size, and the amount the child care provider charges.

Temporary Assistance for Domestic Violence Survivors (TA-DVS) Program:

The program provides temporary financial help to support families whose safety is at risk due to domestic violence. Most often this is when the domestic violence survivor and the children are fleeing domestic violence or at risk of returning to an abusive situation.
